KNOXVILLE, TN (May 17, 2012) - After a three week home stand, the Nighthawks hit the road to take on the Louisiana Swashbucklers on Saturday, May 19th at 8pm eastern time.
The Nighthawks have enjoyed playing on their home turf which provided them their first win of the season against the Alabama Hammers on May 5th. This week’s game will be a re-match from the first game of the home stand when the Nighthawks fell 61-28 to the Swashbucklers.
"It is going to be a very tough game and a lot is at stake for us. I know that our guys will once again be playing their hearts out and will leave everything they have on the field," said Coach Chris MacKeown.
Knoxville will be looking at running back Cassen Jackson-Garrison and defensive back Ginikachi Ibe to step-up this week after their standout performance against the Lions. Jackson-Garrison ended up with 4 touchdowns while Ibe had 2 interceptions and 3 solo tackles.
“Last week was just another stepping stone to our playoff run even though we lost a tough on in the last seconds. Each and every player on our 20 man roster is treating this game as a playoff game because this game will determine the rest of our season,” said Jackson-Garrison.
The league has gotten extremely competitive now that all the teams are fighting for those last few playoff spots. With the season being past the half way mark, the games have gotten closer in score and are coming down to last minute game winning plays. Last week both the Nighthawks and the Swashbucklers ended up losing in the last seconds of their games which means that both teams will be competing at full strength to prove that they still want that last playoff spot.
Nighthawk fans will be able to listen to the game live on Tennessee Sports Radio 1180am or on the Tennessee Sports Radio app for Apple and Android.
