Knoxville, TN - The Knoxville Nighthawks will be concluding their inaugural season this Saturday, June 16th at 7:30pm in Columbus, Georgia against the Lions.
The match-ups between the Nighthawks (1-10) and Lions (5-6) this season have been intense. Columbus was the first team that Knoxville faced after joining the Professional Indoor Football League this year and ended up losing by only 7 points. When they met back up on May 12th in Knoxville, the game was a fight till the bitter end when Columbus made a field goal at the last second to take the win.
“We are playing this last game working to build momentum and confidence for next year. Columbus has edged us out twice this season and we know it will be a tough game versus an experienced playoff bound team,” said Nighthawks Head Coach Chris MacKeown.
Despite the first year hiccups that occurred in the beginning of the Nighthawks season, they have been determined to put leave it all out on the field. Over the past four weeks Knoxville has made vast improvements on the field coming within just a couple of points of winning against Columbus, Louisiana, Albany, and Richmond.
This Saturday will be no different when the Nighthawks hit the field for the final time this season in Columbus. Nighthawk fans in attendance are guaranteed to see an action-packed, intense game against a team that will hopefully not squeak by with yet another win.
The Nighthawks will have a player meet and greet to celebrate the end of the season on Thursday, June 14th from 7pm-9pm at Old City Entertainment. This is the perfect time to mingle with players, get autographs, and take pictures with the team.
Fans that cannot attend the road trip can listen to the game live at 7:30pm on Tennessee Sports Radio 1180AM or on the Tennessee Sports Radio app for Android and Apple. For more information on the Knoxville Nighthawks, call (865) 686-6106 or visit www.knoxvillenighthawks.com.
